Scenes From Our British Summer season Bash

Summer season at Food52 started with a full home of particular friends. Along with our mates at Nice British Meals, we invited over 100 neighborhood members to our house within the Brooklyn Navy Yard for scrumptious cocktails and one of the best of British meals—plus a demo from a Nice British Bake Off chef.

English-inspired linens topped with delicate florals helped set the British backyard celebration vibe. Exterior, the Manhattan skyline drew friends onto the terrace for a greater view.

Visitors selected from UK craft spirits and English glowing wines on the bar. The Tom Collins-esque Juniper Spritz featured Sipsmith Gin, Lillet, easy syrup, membership soda, and lemon. The Paper Jet, a play on a Paper Airplane, showcased Penderyn Welsh Whisky with Averna, Aperol, and a lemon twist. Caleño non-alcoholic spirits equipped pleasant, zero-proof sips.

English glowing wines from Hattingley Valley, Gusbourne, and Chapel Down rounded out the bar menu alongside Sipsmith Gin and Tonics and Nc’Nean Scotch Whisky.

We crammed this stunning grazing desk with UK specialty cheeses, starting from Shropshire, England’s Belton Farms Sage Derby to Collier’s Welsh Cheddar, and set out recent, summery salads to accompany them. Handed hors d’oeuvres that includes Scottish brown crab, Lochlander Scottish Smoked Salmon, and premium Welsh lamb, which is lastly accessible in the US, disappeared shortly en route from the kitchen.

UK Agriculture Attaché Will Surman welcomed friends together with Food52 Chief Income Officer Alexis Aguayo.

The star of the night was 2021 Nice British Bake Off finalist and cookbook writer Crystelle Pereira. Recognized throughout her time on Bake Off as a grasp of complicated taste combos (just like the Goan hen pickle curry pie that received her Star Baker and the enduring Hollywood Handshake in Pastry Week), Pereira entertained friends with a stay demo of her lamb shawarma loaded fries. (You’ll find the recipe in her cookbook, Taste Kitchen)
